Dr. Christie completed her Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences and Doctorate of Medicine at McMaster University. She then went on to study Rural Family Medicine through UBC. She has always been interested in uncovering the root causes of illness, which has led her to study a variety of further disciplines. She is a Certified Medical Acupuncturist (McMaster), Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner (IFM), a Certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher (UCSD Center for Mindfulness), a Qualified Interpersonal Mindfulness teacher (UMass Medical School Center for Mindfulness) and a Certified Relational Somatic Therapist / Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (ACCT). She is currently involved as a research therapist in an international study investigating MDMA assisted psychotherapy for severe post traumatic stress disorder. She is very happy to have found RISE BC Wellness, where this extensive background can be drawn upon to assist in the healing of chronic pain and trauma. She has been apprenticing with Dr. Joel Kailia in interventional pain procedures since July 2016. Dr. Christie is passionate about bringing Trauma and Violence Informed Care (TVIC) into our healthcare system.
